There are more than 243 million licensed drivers in the United States, and that number continues to grow year after year, and the journey for many starts with proper entry level driver training. At Brentwood Driver Training, we’ve helped thousands of new drivers gain the skills and confidence they need to drive safely and responsibly.

In this blog post, we’ll break down what entry level driver training really means, why it’s important, and how our program sets students up for success. Whether you’re a teen getting your first license or an adult learning to drive for the first time, we’re here to guide you every step of the way.

Keep reading to learn what you can expect from training and how we make the process simple and effective.

What Is Entry Level Driver Training?

Put simply, entry level driver training is the first step toward getting a driver’s license. It’s designed to help new drivers build a strong foundation before they start driving on their own. At Brentwood Driver Training, our program combines classroom learning with behind-the-wheel practice to give students the tools they need to feel confident and prepared.

In the classroom, students learn the rules of the road, traffic laws, and the basics of safe driving. Then, during in-car sessions, they apply that knowledge in real-life situations with an experienced instructor by their side. This mix of theory and practice helps students develop good habits from day one.

The goal of entry level driver training is to teach safety, road awareness, and vehicle control. It prepares students not just to pass their driving test, but to drive responsibly every day.

Why Choose Brentwood Driver Training?

Here at Brentwood Driver Training, we have helped more than 100,000 drivers across Middle Tennessee learn how to drive safely and confidently. We’ve built our reputation by offering high-quality instruction, reliable service, and a focus on each student’s success.

We’re the only driving school in the area with dual-controlled cars, giving our instructors full control during lessons to keep students safe. Our classes run year-round, so it’s easy to find a time that works for you. We also offer driver’s license testing and have multiple locations across the region.

Our instructors are friendly, patient, and experienced. They understand that learning to drive can be stressful, and they know how to keep students calm and focused behind the wheel.

At Brentwood Driver Training, we take the time to teach the right way, so our students stay safe on the road for years to come.

What You’ll Learn With Our Teen Classroom Course

Our Teen Classroom Course, in particular, is built to give new driver students the knowledge and confidence they need to start driving safely. It includes 30 hours of classroom instruction and 6 hours of private, behind-the-wheel training. This balanced approach helps teens fully understand the rules of the road and how to apply them while driving.

The course also includes a virtual simulation, which offers extra practice in a safe, controlled environment. Students learn about traffic laws, signs, and signals, but also how to handle real-world situations like merging, navigating busy intersections, and driving in different weather conditions.

Our program is open to students ages 15 to 18 (or age 14 with hardship approval). With beginner driver lessons designed for teens, we focus on safety, awareness, and smart decision-making. Completing the course may also qualify students for an insurance discount, adding even more value to their training.

Flexible Options for Every Schedule

At Brentwood Driver Training, we offer flexible options to fit your needs. Our Home Video Driver Training course is a great choice for busy teens or adults. You can learn at your own pace, often finishing in about a week.

It covers the same material as our classroom course and includes 6 hours of behind-the-wheel training (please note that license testing is not included with this option).

For those who want extra practice or feel nervous behind the wheel, our Individual Driving Lessons are a good fit. These private, 1-on-1 lessons include pick-up and drop-off and are available on weekdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. We also offer a spring special with an affordable package of lessons.

If you’re just starting out or need a confidence boost, our flexible programs make it easy to get the training you need.

Pass Your Permit Test With Confidence

Our classroom course is designed to help you pass your permit test the first time. We break down Tennessee traffic laws and driving rules in a simple, easy-to-understand way. You’ll also learn real-world tips that prepare you for everyday driving.

With support from experienced instructors and helpful study materials, you’ll feel ready and confident on test day. It’s all part of how we help every new driver get started the right way.

Take the Test With Us – Skip the DMV

With Brentwood Driver Training, you can take your driver’s license test right here with us, skipping the long wait at the DMV. This option saves you time and makes the whole process much less stressful for you and your family. You’ll take the test in the same dual-controlled car you practiced in, which helps you feel more comfortable and confident behind the wheel.

Our friendly examiners and familiar setting create a calm, supportive environment. We focus on helping new drivers succeed from their first lesson to the final test.

Choosing to test with us means a smoother experience and a better chance to pass on your first try. We’re here to guide you every step of the way.
